Tech (Biotechnology & Biochemcial Engineering)

Master of Technology in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering is a Post-Graduate Biotechnology course started at Sir MVIT in 2011. This course is blend of Biotechnology and Biochemical engineering covering applying engineering aspects to biotechnology based problems. Course also involves biochemical engineering that deals with design and construction of reactors. The career opportunities are in Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical/herbal industries. Duration: Two years (full time)

A candidate with valid GATE score. A candidate who has passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years / semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to M.Tech course  (45% of marks in qualifying exam in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates).

  • Candidate has to appear PGCET conducted by Karnataka Examination authority (KEA), Govt. of Karnataka.

 Admissions under Management Quota:

Candidate has to appear Sir MVIT-Post Graduate Exam (SIR MVIT-PGEE) conducted by Sir M Visvesvaraya institute of Technology, Bangalore.

Provision for M.Tech students to move to Integrated Ph.D. programme – I.Ph.D.

(a) Integrated Ph.D. programme is a fulltime programme

(b)The candidates pursuing M.Tech. Degree at the University and who have successfully completed the prescribed common coursework of the first three semesters of study with a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70 % aggregate marks and published research papers in ‘SCOPUS/SCI/WoS Indexed journals /UGC-CARE Approved journals’ or obtained/filed patents shall be eligible for up-gradation to the Integrated Ph.D.. Programme, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee.

Provision for M.S.(Research) students to move to Integrated Ph.D. programme – I.Ph.D.

The candidates pursuing M.S Degree by Research at the University, who have successfully completed the prescribed coursework in the first two semesters of study with an outstanding merit of either a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70% aggregate marks and published research papers in refereed journals or filed/obtained patents shall be eligible for up-gradation to the M.S Research + Ph. D Integrated Dual Degree programme, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee.
