Professor & HOD
The Department of CSE started in the year 1987. It offers B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering. Being located in the IT capital of the country, the department justifies it’s presence by being one of the preferred infrastructures feeding well trained and qualified manpower not only to the global industry but also to the research and development establishments in the domain since last 30 years.
The department is built around 6 state-of-the-art Software and Hardware laboratories equipped with high-end machines and latest software. All the laboratories are networked and are connected to high end server hierarchy which in turn is connected through a gateway and 200 Mbps dedicated link to Internet. The research lab also provides private ‘Cloud’ setup for the entire institute to access virtual resources.
The intellectual backbone of the department comprises of 18 well qualified and dedicated faculty members with teaching and industrial experience. Six faculty members possess Ph.D. qualification and practically the rest being at various stages of pursuing research leading to Ph.D. degree. The areas of research are not merely restricted to pure computer science domain but also cover application of computer science & IT in various inter departmental and socially relevant areas. The department is officially conferred recognition by VTU as its research center which resulted in more than 200 publications in Journals and international conferences. To its credit, the department has secured 10 University ranks.
The research environment is supported by multiple industry collaborations and MOUs with leading houses like EMC2, Infosys and Cognizant Technologies in addition to various startup companies.
The department has received NBA accreditation three times during the years 2002, 2006 and 2011 and also ISO certification. It has also been accredited by couple of MNCs as their quality partners. To ensure continuous quality improvement, the department conducts various programs both for students as well as for the faculty members (viz. 70+ Student development programs, 12+ Faculty development programs, 50+ Curriculum development programs, 100+ Expert Talks) by inviting experts from external organizations.
- To build a center for imparting quality technical education and carrying out research activity to meet the current and future challenges in the domain of Computer Science and Engineering
- The computer science and engineering department strives for excellence in teaching, applying, promoting and imparting knowledge through comprehensive academic curricula.
- Train students to effectively apply the knowledge to solve real-world problems, thus enhance their potential for a life-long high-quality career and give them a competitive advantage in the ever-changing and fast-paced computing.
- Prepare students to demonstrate a sense of societal and ethical responsibilities in their professional endeavours.
- Creating amongst students and faculty a collaborative environment, open to the free exchange of ideas, which leads to research activity and fuels innovative thinking.
- The graduates exhibit professionalism, communication skills for effective teamwork and will have a successful career as Information Technology professionals and work with values and social concern.
- The graduates have strong foundation in the mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals and Engineering practices necessary to formulate, solve and analyse engineering problems which enables them for higher education, research and development activities.
- The graduate demonstrate lifelong learning in the field of computation by up-gradation of knowledge skills and abide by professional ethics.
- An ability to design and analyze algorithms by applying theoretical concepts to build complex and computer- based systems in the domain of System Software, Computer Networks & Security, Web technologies, Data Science and Analytics.
- Be able to develop various software solutions by applying the techniques of Data Base Management, Complex Mathematical Models, Software Engineering practices and Machine Learning with Artificial Intelligence.
