
Dr. Suresh H. L. is presently serving as Vice Principal (Academics) and Professor & Head of the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT), Bengaluru. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching and research, including eight years of professional experience in the Sultanate of Oman.
He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, an M.Tech. in Power Systems from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru, affiliated to the University of Mysore, and a B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from AIT, Chikkamagaluru, affiliated to the University of Mysore.
His areas of interest include industry–academia interaction, skill development, hands-on training, academic development and establishing industry-oriented laboratories. He has been actively involved in organizing national and international conferences, faculty development programmes, technical training programmes and skill development initiatives. He has also contributed to strengthening industry–academia linkages and establishing collaborations through industry interactions and MoUs.
Dr. Suresh H. L. has guided two Ph.D. scholars to completion and currently supervises four doctoral candidates at VTU-recognized research centres. He has published and presented more than 48 technical papers in national and international journals and conferences. He also serves as an expert resource person for conferences, seminars, technical training programmes, faculty development programmes and technical sessions. He has guided more than 150 undergraduate students and five postgraduate students in their academic projects. He is an active Life Member/Fellow of various professional bodies, as follows:

Dr. Suresh H. L. has received recognition for his academic and professional contributions, including:

His core strengths include industry–academia collaboration, establishing industry-associated laboratories and strengthening teaching and learning through practical and hands-on approaches. His academic initiatives focus on integrating contemporary industrial practices into engineering education and strengthening skill-oriented learning in alignment with the objectives of NEP 2020.Through his roles in academic administration, teaching, research, industry interaction and institutional development, Dr. Suresh H. L. continues to contribute to strengthening academic excellence, practical learning, industry collaboration and student development at Sir MVIT.
