Dr. Thippeswamy’s research interests include the Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, Wireless Sensor Networks, Artificial Intelligence, and Human Activity Recognition. He has published over 100 research papers in reputed international and national journals and conferences, including Scopus and IEEE-indexed publications, and has contributed book chapters published by Springer and CRC Press. He holds four granted patents, including innovations such as Fire Surveillance Drone, Patient Critical Parameter Monitoring using IoT, Smart Shopping Cart System, and Navigation Assistance for the Visually Impaired.

A proven academic leader, Dr. Thippeswamy has held several senior positions — Principal at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (Dr. AIT), Professor & HoD at M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), HoD at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), and Dean (Academics) at Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering (SVCE). In these roles, he has successfully led NBA, NAAC, and NIRF accreditation processes, promoted Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and strengthened institutional collaborations with AICTE, VTU, and the Department of Technical Education (DTE).

He has executed funded research projects worth several crores from AICTE, DST, VTU, and VGST, including projects on Assistive Technologies for the Visually Impaired and the Establishment of Wireless Sensor Laboratories. He has guided five Ph.D. scholars to completion and continues to supervise three doctoral candidates at VTU-recognized research centers. As a strategic administrator, he has played a central role in multiple national-level initiatives:

• AICTE Nodal Officer (2015–2021), NMIT, Bengaluru – Coordinated all institutional compliance, approvals, and project documentation with AICTE, New Delhi.
• AICTE and VTU Affiliation Coordination (2013–2015), SVCE, Bengaluru – Managed approvals and affiliation processes ensuring timely and complete submissions.
• NIRF Ranking Coordination (2016–2021), NMIT, Bengaluru – Led the ranking activities; the institute achieved an All-India Rank of 100 (2018–19)
• Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) – Coordinated at NMIT (2018– 2022), where the institute ranked among the Top 100 (2018– 19), 3rd among private institutions (2020–21), and 5th nationally (2021–22).
• ARIIA Coordination (2022–2025), MSRIT, Bengaluru – Led innovation ranking efforts; MSRIT placed in the 11–50 Band nationally (2023–24).

He also established Centres of Excellence in IoT and Cyber Security (in collaboration with Subex Ltd., Bengaluru) and spearheaded the AICTE IDEA Lab (2025), driving innovation and hands-on learning among students.

Dr. Thippeswamy is also an NBA Expert Committee Member (Evaluator) for accreditation visits organized by NBA, New Delhi, contributing to national-level quality benchmarking in technical education.

An ardent advocate for employability and entrepreneurship, he has organized several FDPs, workshops, and international conferences in collaboration with AICTE and VTU, promoting academic excellence and industry partnership. His initiatives have empowered students and faculty to engage in research, patents, and product development addressing real-world challenges.
