Dr. Bharathi Ganesh is presently Vice Principal and Professor, Department of Civil Engineering at Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology. Her Academic Qualification includes Ph.D. in Civil – Structural Engineering (Bangalore University), presently pursuing ‘an Executive Program – Advanced Strategic and Leadership program in IIM Indore, M.Tech. in PSc Structures [UVCE, BU] and B.E in Civil Engineering (MSRIT, Bangalore University). Her 33 + years of experience includes teaching and research including Two years of industry experience at Torsteel Research Foundation in India (TRFI, Bangalore. Her professional expertise includes Mortar and Concretes, Materials making mortar & Concretes, Fresh & Hardened properties of Concrete, Supplementary Cementitious Materials, Alternative materials in concrete, Sustainability for Construction Industry etc. behaviour of RCC and Steel Structures etc. Other Areas of Interest are organizing International, National conferences, skill training, FDPs etc., Interaction with Industries, Signing MoUs, setting up skill centers establishing close connect between industry and academia.
She has guided two candidates for PhD and is a research supervisor of four scholars. She has published and presented more than 120 technical papers in National and International Journals / conferences. She is an expert resource person for Conferences, Seminars and technical training programs / faculty development programs / technical sessions etc., She has guided more than 160 Under-Graduate and 75 Post-Graduate student for their projects. She is an active life member professional organization namely ASCE, ICI, ACCE(I), INSDAG, INSTRUCT, IASE, NWSF, ISAS, IFERP, CMI, ECI, ISTE and IIBE. She was a Secretary of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), India Section, Southern Region [2021-23] Treasurer, Southern Region [2016-2018 & 2019-2021]. Honorary member of CMI, Chartered Management Institute, UK, Member of ISAS – International Society for Development and Sustainability, US.
She holds administrative posts in various Academic, Statutory Committees of the Institution and other Autonomous colleges, Panel member of PhD Evaluators of reputed Universities in Karnataka and other states [SRM TN, VIT, AP etc.]. She is a recipient of award ‘Best Women Scientist 2012’ and Best Paper Award International Conferences in Malysia.
Her core strength is industry association and establishing industry associated laboratories in Institution strengthening teaching and learning process more practical oriented incorporating latest industrial practices with focus on hands on training under NEP 2020.
