Speech"SUSAMSKRITI", the cultural forum of SIR MVIT was started in 1994 with a view to ensure overall personality development of the students by bringing out their latent in various fields such as Creative Writing,  Quiz, Theatre, Painting, Music, Dance etc.

Dance, SIR MVITAn inter college  Cultural festival ' KALANJALI' is held every year. Many colleges in the state participate. Students interact with people and organize  events. In order to carry out any project successfully good team work is essential. These activities promote students' ability to work in a team towards a common goal at different stages of their career. The students of SIR MVIT have won many laurels  in  cultural festivals conducted by  other colleges too.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

NSS volunteers are the architects of the nation. The training induces self confidence, develops overall personality, brings out the hidden talents, build self esteem and roots out inferiority complex.

The Aim of NSS

Development of the Personality of Students through Community Service by declaring
Not me But You

 

The objectives of NSS:

  • To motivate and work with people.

  • To engage in creative and constructive social action.

  • To develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities.

  • To develop capacity to meet emergencies and national disasters.

  • To bridge the gap between the educated and uneducated masses.

  • To practice national integration.

The MOTTO or the WATCHWORD for NSS is "NOT ME BUT YOU". This expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the others point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings.

Chronicle of Events
NSS unit, Sir MVIT

21.12.1999 The NSS unit is inaugurated in SMVIT by the State Liaison officer, Dr. M.B. Dilshad and the unit starts functioning with 100 volunteers. This is followed by a blood donation camp co-sponsored by the Rotary Club in which the Red Cross collects 149 units of blood.
05.01.2000 The NSS unit organises campus cleaning in which a large number of volunteers take part cleaning an area of 6 acres around entrance of the college and Indoor Games Complex.
07.01.2000 An AIDS AWARENESS Programme is held that features an illuminating talk on the subject by Dr. Kamala of Sri K.C.D.S. The talk is well attended by dignitaries from various institutions.
08.01.2000 The NSS unit conducts a College Beautification Programme around the college playground.
19.01.2000 A one day workshop on photography is conducted by Dr.T.V.N. Murthy, Tumkur, which is attended by 37 students. 
23.01.2000 A Pulse Polio Programme (under Health and Family Welfare) is conducted in several surrounding villages of SMVIT. Nearly 1500 children are immunized. Over 60 NSS volunteers participate in the programme with active assistance from Dr. Nagraj of the Govt. Primary Medical Center, Bettahalasur.
22.05.2000 A Fire Prevention Programme is conducted for the benefit of all students and staff of SMVIT.
30.11.2000 A voluntary blood donation camp is conducted in association with Red Cross. Nearly 260 bottles of blood are collected on this day.

A few programmes have been planned in future to motivate our NSS volunteers towards social service:

  • To organize special social service camps in Rural areas, Urban slums and Harijan basti's.

  • Literacy campaign.

  • Plantation of trees, their preservation and up keep.

  • To arrange Blood Donation Camps, Eye Camps, and other Medical Service Camps.

  • To help organizing all college programmes.

  • To exhibit the documentaries about NSS camps and other activities.

  • Programme for mass immunization.

  • Production oriented programmes.

  • Programme for work during emergencies.

  • Integral Child development programme.
