THE INSTITUTE

Building, SIR MVIT              The institute, rated as the best Engineering Institute in Bangalore and 29th best in India  by the prestigious magazine " Data Quest"  was established by Sri.Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust in the year 1986 and  is named after  Sir. M. Visvesvaraya, an illustrious son of Karnataka, and an  engineer statesman par excellence.  It  is  located on a vast expanse of 53.8 hectares on NH7, at a distance of 21 kms from Bangalore city railway station. The institute provides an inspiring academic ambience amidst abundant greenery and serenity. The Institute has nearly 2600 students and over 145 teaching faculty.

The  institute  is  affiliated  to  Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. It is accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi and Institution of Engineers (India) ,Kolkata Sir. M.VIT is  one
of the top engineering colleges in Karnataka.

                                                                   Development and welfare MeasuresEnvironment, SIR MVIT

Student development and welfare has been given due importance. Regular medical examination, medical and group insurance, student welfare fund, technical talks by guest faculty to update knowledge and incentives and honours to meritorious students are part of this  focus. Various staff development schemes are instituted for continuous upgradation of teaching skills and methodologies. Pursuance of higher studies and participation in workshops, seminars and conferences by teaching faculty and students are encouraged.

Alumni Association 

Old Students of Sir MVIT keep in constant touch with the Institution through Alumni Association. The Alumni meet twice a year ,26th January & 15th of August. They  keep contact through e-mail, website and SMRITI , a half yearly magazine.

Centre for Industry Institute Interaction (CIII) 

An active and healthy interaction between the institute and the industries is ensured through the following   

Research & Development cell

  • Departments of Mechanical Engineering ,Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics  Communication Engineering, and Bio-Technology  are declared as R & D centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University.

  • Many scholars are engaged in research ,leading to Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Engg) degrees 

  • Several funded R & D projects by AICTE, AAAR & DB, UGC, DST, Department of  Power ,etc are being executed 

Training & Placement Cell

Walking hand in hand with the students and guiding them to face the world is the training and Placement Cell. It strives to provide a holistic approach and prepares the student to embark on a successful career. Imparting of soft skills, extra curricular training and counseling are the some of the activities taken up by the cell . The cell also endeavors to establish enduring relationships wit the corporate who are potential employers. There are several general and custom -designed programs, which provide engineering/management training to the students

Software Development Training Cell

Several Software products have been developed for in-house as well as external agencies.

Corporate Training Programs

The institute has expertise in organizing training programs in various branches of engineering/Management as per the requirements of Industries/R & D organizations at various levels. These programs can be conducted either on the campus or at the work place.

Working Hours

   The Institute works six days a week from 8:45 AM to 4:30 PM. from Monday to Friday & on Saturdays from 8.45 AM to 12.30 PM The Institute has a good transport system for students and staff to commute from various parts of the city of Bangalore.
