Telecommunication is an exciting branch of engineering which brings into focus the marvels of modern communication technology using the state of the art advancement in Microelectronics and Computers. The Telecom Engineering Dept. was established in 1992 and is housed in the new block in the sprawling college campus. Over the years the department has grown in strength and is recognized as a hub for academic excellence. The department is ISO certified by TVU Rhineland (India). Department activities are aimed at enhancing the technical knowledge of the students to meet the current Industry and Research & Development institution standards and to prepare the students to meet day to day technical challenges in their future professional carrier. Department’s vision is to become a centre of excellence in education and research in the field of Telecommunication Engineering.

The department has competent and dedicated faculty well versed in teaching and dissemination of knowledge in the related topics of microwaves, satellite communication, Digital and wireless communication and optical communication. The experienced faculty and skilled staff have a strong commitment to engineering education. The faculty has a record of continuous upgradation of teaching methodology, incorporating modern teaching aids. Taking into consideration the fast rate of obsolescence in the field of telecommunication, electronics and computer science, every effort is made by the department to train the students in the latest developments by giving them additional courses and encouraging them to do projects utilizing the laboratory facilities.

The department focuses on research projects, conference/ seminar paper presentation at International & National level. Many faculty members and students are active members of IETE & ISTE society. The department has a forum to update the knowledge of students and staff in the relevant field of expertise. It has a spacious seminar hall with modern audio visual aids. The department has its own exclusive library. It is equipped with latest publications, Books, CD’s, technical journals and internet facility. It has adequate IT infrastructure with latest desktop and Laptop computers, printers and multimedia facility. Students have access to Digital Library for their  information requirements.

A Student Graduating from Telecommunication Engineering will have the

1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialisation for the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: The problems

  • that cannot be solved by straightforward application of knowledge, theories and techniques applicable to the engineering discipline. *
  • that may not have a unique solution. For example, a design problem can be solved in many ways and lead to multiple possible solutions.
  • that require consideration of appropriate constraints/requirements not explicitly given in the problem statement. (like: cost, power requirement, durability, product life, etc.).
  • which need to be defined (modeled) within appropriate mathematical framework.
  • that often require use of modern computational concepts and tools.#

5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.

The alumni of the department have pursued PG studies at various recognized International and National Universities. Technophilia Systems and iCarnegie-USA together have launched CRESE Lab in Sir MVIT. Sir MVIT is one of the engineering colleges to be offering this state of the art program over eight semesters. Students will be issued certificates after successful completion of the course. Telecommunication Department has been organizing the course for the past two years.
Department has been conducting a technical and cultural fest “Aadhar” for the past
four years.
