Celebration of E-WEEK INDIA 2008

A vision that started off as an effort to make a small difference…turned out to be a revolution that will be remembered and followed for years to come. The Entrepreneurship cell of Sir MVIT, that started off with the initiative of just a handful of members has now grown leaps and bounds into a mass movement that celebrates its biggest festival every year- ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK INDIA.

E WEEK INDIA – 2008 initiated and supported by National Entrepreneurship Network, an initiative of Wadhwani Foundation was celebrated with great style and splendor at SIR MVIT. Riding on the success of last year’s National Championship Victory, the E-Cell of SIR MVIT created another signature week that promised to entertain and educate at the same time. The Central theme of the week long programme was “Connecting Industry and Academia”. This was celebrated throughout the country in over 270 Institutions. At SIR MVIT over 60 events were organized in a very short span of time, whose ideas ranged from social awareness to money matters to just plain fun of an entrepreneurial life.

Inauguration Ceremony on the 2nd of February took off with the tradition of organizing an Annual Day Function-complete with a magic show, lunch and gifts-for the children of Bettahalasuru Government School. The next seven days saw some more events that highlighted our vision of “Making a Difference”- the students of Mathru Blind School Yelahanka. Eleven core committee members took an entire day out to spend some quality time with these highly gifted children. Another one of our big banner events was held at Sankey Tank- “Let There Be Light”-our effort to get across to the masses of Bangalore to support the spirit of entrepreneurship. A success that was attended by a 400 strong crowd that got us media attention too! This is one event that will leave an impression in everyone’s mind. An innovative “Tractor” marketing idea- where official mascot on top a tractor made rounds at college campus with a megaphone to gather everyone’s attention

During the week, all the Departments organized various workshops on topics related to Entrepreneurship. Panel discussion and debates were organized on hot topics of today. Many eminent personalities like Mr. Shirgurkar, Chairman of ACE Designers, Mr. Hari Prasad, Founder Director of Avasarala Automation, Sri Balaji a Venture capitalist, Ms. Swati Sen Gupta, Vice-President of Sonata Software Etc., visited our campus and delivered very encouraging talks which motivated our students.

To keep the spirit of students going there were events like the Music Programme, Slow Bike race, Corridor Cricket etc. There were also attractive food stalls. Some programmes were organized for staff and Alumni. A Blood donation camp was organized where a large number of students and staff took part in this social cause. The week also saw the release of the Social Entrepreneurship club, Movie club, e-cell documentary, News letter, t-shirts, website etc.,

Our cumulative efforts won the team the National Championship Runners Up Award - presented by National Entrepreneurship Network an initiative of Wadhwani Foundation at a grand closing ceremony at St. John’s Auditorium on 9th Feb. 2008 attended by well known personalities like Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Mr. Vijay Kirloskar, Mr. Pradeep Kar and many other eminent entrepreneurs. The entire team had a rollercoaster of a ride bringing this vision to reality.
