The week kicked off on 24th February 2007, with the Inaugural Ceremony presided over by Sri M Varada Raju, President, Sri KET and Dr. Viresh K. Basalalli, Principal, Sir MVIT. A twist to the ceremony was brought about by the release of an inspiring documentary film on entrepreneurs, created by the core of E-Wings and acknowledged even by NEN as a highly innovative idea. The highlight of the day was the various games organised for the students of Betahallasuru Primary School Children followed by a sumptuous lunch at the college mess. The icing on the cake for these children was the computer gifted by the college to the Betahllasuru Primary School, a first of a kind initiative.
The week continued with a corporate training programme organised for the students by Pegasus, an outbound training institute, aimed at developing team spirit and leadership skills among the participants. The same day we saw an interesting panel discussion titled The Forum, addressing various issues faced by student entrepreneurs and how to overcome them. The panel comprised of two experienced entrepreneurs, Capt. Ravi from Pegasus, Mr. Devananda Balaji from Square Circle and two inspiring student entrepreneurs, Mr Rajeev Talreja from Quantum Leap and Ms Bhavana from Club Eventology.
27th February saw the faculty of Sir MVIT letting their hair down and having fun at an event called Organise Chaos, a puzzle game which brought out the enterprising entrepreneur hidden in the faculty.
The following day we had Darshan and Nag, President and Vice-President of E-Wings, conduct an enlightening workshop on Creativity. The workshop got the creative juices of the participants flowing who were taught to think outside the box and believe in themselves. The Support System of E-Wings was also formally launched with the first student group in place- the movie making club, which recently released their short film “Cigarette”.
1st March had 8 teams participating in a challenging caselet competition which brought about novel and bold ideas from the competitors, the winners of which walked away with a cash prize of Rs 1000! Those were some happy winners we saw…
The last working day of the week had the campus at Sir MVIT bustling with activity. A Blood Donation Camp, which was organised in association with Red Cross and Lions Club, received an overwhelming response with over 850 donors coming to the camp, setting a new record for Sir MVIT. Sunaada the music group of Sir MVIT organised a concert to entertain students and showcase its talents while Friday afternoon became a reason for cheer, as the movie GURU was screened for over 200 students. All along we had students and teachers alike, signing pledges supporting entrepreneurship and participating in the one-liner contest organised by NEN. The response went beyond all expectations.
The grand finale on 3rd March had Sir MVIT teaming up with MCC, JNC and MSRIT in conducting an E-Fest at the JNC campus. The fest had 4 events, a Treasure Hunt, a Business Skills game, a Team Based Corporate Event and a Stress Interview all designed to educate while entertaining. The entire event was planned and executed by students with limited help from outside.
The week ended with the Grand closing ceremony at the St Josephs Indian High School Grounds which was attended by participants from all over the country. A ceremony to honour the best institutes, Sir MVIT was acknowledged with the most number of awards for a brilliant performance through the week. We won awards for maximum one-liner entries, maximum pledges signed and the coveted National Championship itself! It was a day of great pride for us and to this day, those present at the ceremony talk about the euphoria created after having won three awards all by ourselves.
